DAMAGED RECORDS IS HISTORY

VIRTUAL TOUR OF WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE...

CARDIFF'S LONGEST RUNNING INDEPENDENT D.I.Y. PUNK ROCK RECORD SHOP 2005-2009

OBITUARIES

“I personally love the back and forth of an independent shop that knows your name,
what you like, and will order stuff for you because they know you will buy it regardless,
but I have always had that with Spillers.”

“The modern age has a part to play in making such places less important these days
as so many (myself included) use the internet etc., as a means of resourcing music
(buying direct from bands/labels etc is so much easier these days, and cheaper).”

“I never bought stuff from there.”

“The local punks didn't support it - if they even exist anymore.”

“I can't say I ever bought a great deal from there.”

“The musical tastes of the record-buying demographic have changed since the hardcore glory days.”

“The larger a record shop is the more comfortable a certain sort of person is gonna be in there,
as there isn't going to be an implied pressure to engage in conversation.”

“I wish I could have supported it more, but it wasn't my scene to support.”

“A shop dealing in a genre lending itself most readily to old folk is automatically
going to be in a precarious position to survive.”

“I just don't buy enough CDs.”

“My flight cost more than what that shop made in four years.”
